My name is Geoff Vontz and I'm the photographer here at G photography, Inc.
I'm a Kansas Citian born and bred and grew up on the mean streets of Brookside. I settled just over the state line in Prairie Village with my lovely and talented wife Angel and our three kids, Emma Cate, Owen, and Antonia.
The story of G photo begins, as the stories of most of the great photography studios do, with bad vacation pictures (ed. Note – no, the stories of most of the great studios do not start out like this). I graduated from college, went on a trip, took a bunch of pictures, was disappointed in the results, determined that it was obviously the result of camera deficiency and not of operator error, bought a camera, shot landscapes and cityscapes for a couple of years, waited for my friends to have kids, took pictures of them, talked a friend into letting me shoot their wedding, established a reputation as someone who knew how to take pictures and knew how to make taking pictures fun, started G photography, Inc. with a gleam in my eye and a studio in my living room, moved the studio out of the home and into what I like to refer to as corporate headquarters, waited a year, and sat down to write this bio for my new and improved website. Sure, there are some gaps in the story and I'll be happy to fill them in for you but hopefully you get the gist of things.
Since I hung my shingle and launched G photography in 2000, I've shot more than one hundred weddings and more than two hundred corporate events. I've also had the opportunity to work with some of the best charities in the city, document some of the city's most historic and stunning architecture. And as I watch Emma Cate, Owen, and Antonia grow and change every day, I appreciate the opportunity to capture lasting images of children.
As the saying/maxim/cliche goes, "if you love what you do, you'll never have to work a day in your life". I truly do love what I do and my hope is that by visiting this site you'll like what you see enough to give me the opportunity to not work with you soon.
